We offer sailing instruction for all ages and skill levels and are nationally recognized and sanctioned as an accredited training centre by US Sailing.

Spring:
- For many years, Lake Forest Sailing has created some of the best teams in the country. Spring training is dedicated to ensuring this status is held - giving our teams a head start on the rest of the Midwest.
- We offer training for both our Optimist fleet and our High School 420 and Laser fleet.
- Due to the challenging conditions of Lake Michigan's in the Spring months, we do not recommend these Spring programs for those new to sailing. Come see us in the Summer instead - we'd love to have you.
SUMMER & Camps:
- LFS Summer Sailors runs for 10 weeks and is our prized programming, providing a safe and fun environment for kids to gain an affinity and confidence for being on the water, meeting new friends, and sharing the fun!
- We typically teach around 300 children every summer, and our core programs are for youth ages 5-12. To meet this demand, we are frequently adding new programs or revising schedules to best match the desires of the community.
- Little Luffers for ages 5-7 is the starting point and the fun goes on from there! Last summer we added the new Lake Michigan Adventures (8-12Y) and Keelboat Explorers (10-12Y) programs that have been hugely successful.

FALL:
- The weather in Lake Forest affords us to extend our sailing opportunities into November. In Fall we focus on our Opti and Scholastic 420 teams, as well as our Laser sailors. Training takes place 2 - 3 afternoons a week after school. In addition to the training, teams travel to compete in regattas around the Midwest & the country.
- In fall 2023 we had up to 14 sailors at our Opti practice and 34 sailors on the scholastic team. Our Laser team is deep as well, with Lake Forest sailors picking up awards in Midwest qualifiers and Nationals. Laser sailing is strenuous, competitive, and full-on heart-rate shredding.
